Our Instructors

Take a look at some of the 5-Star Reviews our instructors received last year!

  • Backpack Basket – Bev Larson: Bev Larson is the best! Patient, helpful, student-centered, and generous with her time and individual help. Can't wait for next year!
  • Ancient Textile Tools of the Northern Provinces – Robin Goatey: Ancient Textile Tools of the Northern Roman Provinces was even better than I hoped. I learned so much. Robin is engaging and knowledgeable. The materials price was more than fair, and there was plenty of time to use each type of tool before deciding. I look forward to Robin's future classes!
  • Beginning Spinning – Deb Jones: Deb's beginning spinning class was wonderful and exactly what I was hoping for! She did a great job walking us through each step and made sure we were all getting individualized feedback when we needed it. I loved that we got to try out so many different wheels to get a sense for what we liked.
  • Wisconsin Breed Study – Alejandra Sanchez: I had a great time learning historical information about different sheep breeds and being introduced to breeds I hadn't worked with before. This class was perfect for all levels because the info was presented from a different perspective and in a really creative and fun way. Alejandra was a great instructor who prepared quality materials and was able to speak as both a shepherdess and a fiber artist. I would take this class again just to hear her thoughts on the different breeds and learn how each made its way through history. So great!
  • Beginning Tatting – Cris Robinson: I took the Beginning Tatting class with Cris Robinson on Thursday, September 4. She was great! I have taught myself a lot of different fiber art skills, but could not figure out tatting. With her instruction and help, I am able to work with what she was able to teach me, and now progress into actually following a pattern. I recommend her and would take another class taught by her.
  • Long Draw – Heavenly Bresser: Fabulous, absolutely fabulous! Heavenly is a great teacher! She understands the students. She was able to work with a mixed bag of skill sets, and still, I think she brought everybody in that class further along in learning how to do a classic long draw. I just can't say enough - she's just excellent
  • Bengala Mud Dying - Chiaki O'Brien: Our instructor was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very accessible for questions/assistance. She had an easy-going approach. I also loved learning about the history of the dying process, the evolution of using pigment, and how they are currently used in Japan
This instructor facilitated building success by having adequate supplies available for us to use, including lots of different brushes, etc.
  • Drop Spindling – Kim Specht: This is an excellent course because Kim is an excellent instructor! She is patient, repeatedly demonstrates the skills, and addresses all questions. She created mantras to help the participants remember the procedures and disseminated bags with all the pertinent materials and more. Kim made me feel confident in my abilities and also kept us entertained and laughing!
  • Spinning Art Yarn – Julie Benac: I learned more spinning techniques than I ever thought possible during one class. Julie Benac is just an excellent instructor who is able to very clearly explain and demonstrate each different technique that we practiced. The variety of material provided was generous and so much fun to learn with. I enjoyed this class very much. It was a great group of spinners to meet and learn with as well!
  • Tips & Tricks that will Blow your Mind – Cori Eichelberger: This was also a 5-star class! Cori gave us one brief break, but she spent the rest of the class time describing tips and tricks (some simple and many complex). She often had a video included in her presentation to demonstrate the technique, and she offered to send us a copy of the presentation if we emailed her. (I did this and got a prompt response from her) Cori is a very engaging presenter and knowledgeable knitter, and I'll certainly look for her name in the future!
