Special Events are indeed a special combination of auctions and sales, spectator friendly competitions, and pure spectator events.
The Shepherd's and Silent Auctions help to support the many youth activities, including scholarships. The Stock Exchange is an opportunity to purchase breeding sheep of a great variety of breeds. The Used Equipment Auction is a central market pool where sheep producers gather to buy and sell serviceable sheep equipment, sometime including spinning wheels and the like.
Teams take charge in the Stock Dog Trial and the Sheep to Shawl Competition, both events under the added pressure of time limits.
For pure educational and entertainment experiences, wander through the Indoor Arena to view newborn lambs, shearing demonstrations, and a variety of breeds of sheep in the Hall of Breeds. Information about the various breeds is available through the producers or literature. Watch fiber arts demonstrations. Always a popular feature is Cooking with the Chefs if you're looking to improve your culinary mastery of lamb dishes. And who would miss the lamb dinner, served after a long, busy day on Saturday.
