Location: Near the Main Gate
Here’s an opportunity for owners of any herding breed to hone their dog’s skills or to check for
herding instinct. Our judge and tester will be Mary Groh, an AHBA judge who trains and
competes at the Open Level with Border Collies in both AHBA and USBCHA events.
Instinct / Herding Instinct Test Schedule
Friday – September 10
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday- September 11
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday- September 12
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
- Instinct Tests run ten minutes maximum, instructor will assist owner with dog.
- First come – first served within a time slot. Register for the time slots you want. Check in
with Instructor when you arrive to get on the schedule for that time slot.
- If received by August 15, confirmation of Instinct Test registration will be made by email, or
if no email address is available, by mail.
- Open to any herding breeds.
- Dogs must be at least 6 months of age for instinct tests..
- Dogs must wear plain buckle or snap collar.
Dogs showing aggression to stock or humans will need to be removed from premises. Owner is
responsible for control of dog. Dogs not participating in tests must be leashed at all times.
PLEASE NOTE: The only dogs allowed on Festival grounds are those enrolled in Border Collie
Instinct Tests, competing in the Crook & Whistle Stock Dog Trial or are certified service dogs,
service dogs in training or dogs whose owners have specific permission from Festival management.
Please – no pets. No refunds unless classes are cancelled. Video taping of sessions by owners
encouraged.
