HOW IT WORKS

*Exhibitors enter a pen of 3 lambs at Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival.
*Lambs are judged in their pens, as a pen of three, at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
*All lambs will be harvested and carcass data taken.
*Carcasses will be purchased by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Meat Science Lab. Payments will be made directly to exhibitors.
* Live placings will be announced 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Activity Center.
* Carcass awards, along with data and indexing, will be listed in Wisconsin Shepherd and on the WSBC website, www.wisbc.com . Premiums will be mailed directly to recipients.
*  Coordinator requests that participants be available for photos when placings are announced at Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival.

HOW TO RESERVE A PEN

*Click on the RESERVE A PEN button. A new tab will open at Showorks. All registrations/payments are handled by Showorks.
*Once at Showorks, you will need to CREATE AN ACCOUNT (user name and password) – as an “exhibitor” – even if you have entered/registered in previous years.
* Under DEPARTMENT, select WISCONSIN SHEEP BREEDERS CARCASS COMPETITION. Under DIVISION, select ENTRY - ONE PEN (1) PEN OF 3 HEAD.
* Under CLASS, select either CURRENT WSBC MEMBER or NON-WSBC MEMBER.
*ORDER – Once you have an entry in your shopping cart, you can save your progress and return at a later time.  Returning users can sign in with user name and password. Entry fees non-refundable.
*PAYMENT – No saved registrations can be guaranteed unless payment is made. Payment must be made by credit card at the end of the registration process through our secure online system.
*When finished registering, you’ll receive an email confirmation. PRINT/SAVE YOUR ORDER in case your email confirmation does not go through.
*WSBC MEMBERSHIP ENCOURAGED - If you are not a member, you can join online using the WSBC MEMBERSHIP option in Showorks. Annual memberships are only $25.
1.   RESERVE PENS ONLINE – Pen reservations accepted until pen limit reached. Entry Fees $25 per pen for members of the Wisconsin Sheep Breeders; $50 for non-members.  Entries accepted on a first-come basis until pens are filled based on online entries. Limit – 2 pen of 3 animals per person making entry. Only those sheep for which pen fees have been paid will be permitted to be penned. Individual exhibitors receive 1 gate pass.
2.   ELIGIBILITY - Pen of Three Commercial Carcass Competition is open to wether and/or ewe lambs, commercial or purebred. The weight of a pen of 3 lambs at entry must be between 115 and 150 pounds per lamb.
PLACEMENT: Lambs required to be in pens by 9 a.m. Sunday
FLEECE LENGTH:  #1 Pelts on animals preferred, (3/8” to 1” wool).
GENERAL:  No muzzles, drenching, cold water baths, ice wraps, blanketing, patch shearing,         coloring, or fitting permitted, (including legs). Lambs may not be tied in the pen.
3.   HEALTH CERTIFICATES - Sheep originating from outside Wisconsin must be accompanied by a current certificate of veterinary inspection for interstate movement, to be submitted at check-in. Sheep showing any symptoms of contagious or infectious disease will not be permitted to be unloaded or exhibited. All sheep entries must be identified with official, individual scrapie identification.
4.   DISEASE SYMPTOMS - Lambs showing evidence of sore mouth, ringworm, foot-rot, pink eye, wool fungus or any contagious disease will not be permitted to unload.
5.    DRUG WITHDRAWAL - Persons entering sheep in the Pen of 3 competition will be responsible for observing withdrawal times for all feed additives, antibiotics, de-wormers, vaccines or any compounds fed to lambs entered. Evidence to the contrary at any stage of this competition may result in disqualification of lambs and/or carcasses and may cause an exhibitor to be banned from future competitions and the forfeiture of any and all premium or payments.
6.   INSPECTION - All sheep will be inspected prior to unloading.
7.   IDENTIFICATION - All lambs entered must have birth dates recorded upon arrival. Only lambs born in year of event are eligible.  All sheep entries must comply with USDA scrapie regulations and programs and must be identified with official, individual scrapie identification.
8.   ALL PENS ASSIGNED - Pens assigned by Carcass Competition Coordinator. Plan accordingly, no tack pens available. Pen cards will be provided.
9.   FEEDING/CARE - Feeding and care of lambs until they leave the grounds for harvesting is solely the responsibility of the exhibitor. Bedding (shavings) provided.
10.   JUDGING - Lambs will be evaluated in their pens Sunday morning by a Judge appointed by the Pen of Three Commercial Lambs / Carcass Competition committee. Note: Lambs are judged as a pen in both live and carcass evaluations.
11.   PAYMENTS - Payment for lambs will be made by processor to exhibitor at the address on the entry form. Provide phone number.
12. CONTEST RESULTS
LIVE PEN PLACING – Will be determined by the live judge based on an evaluation of all three    lambs in the pen and will be announced at Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival.
CARCASS PEN PLACING – Will be based on the average carcass placing of each carcass within a               pen. Carcass pen placing ties will be broken by the average carcass index of lambs in the pen.
13.    AWARDS
A traveling trophy for the 1st place pen will be awarded at the next Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin Sheep Breeders Cooperative.
Monetary premiums will be paid on both live and carcass pens. If the 1st place carcass pen is also the 1st place live pen, an additional premium will be awarded.  
14. RIGHT TO USE DATA - The WSBC reserves the right to record, photograph or otherwise utilize and/or share data and information from any and all Pen of 3 Carcass Competition entries for programming, publications or presentations.
15. TRANSPORTATION  - Transportation of lambs to the UW Meats Lab will be provided by the Pen of 3 Carcass Competition committee members unless any disqualification shall cause an exhibitor to be required to remove entries from the Festival grounds.
16.   LIABILITY - All Festival regulations shall apply.
